About us

Who We Are

FeatherstoneSG LLP was established in 2025 to formalise a specialist avian consultancy practice that began through international word-of-mouth work and private client referrals. Co-founded by professionals with backgrounds in zoological aviculture, behavioural management and property operations, FeatherstoneSG bridges evidence-based welfare science with real-world residential and institutional environments.

We provide end-to-end consulting and delivery support including welfare assessments, husbandry planning, custom enclosure and aviary design, retrofit solutions, SOP development and staff training. Drawing from international zoological practices and private collection standards, we support clients ranging from HDB households and high-net-worth private collections to managed facilities, developers and zoological institutions. Our focus is practical, sustainable solutions that protect both animal welfare and long-term operational integrity.

All recommendations are designed to be practical, buildable, and sustainable in real-world conditions, regardless of project scale.

Our Mission

FeatherstoneSG’s mission is to raise the standard of avian care by applying evidence-based welfare principles, sound behavioural science, and practical design solutions. We bridge the gap between traditional pet keeping and professional zoological standards, ensuring that birds are housed, managed and supported in ways that prioritise long-term physical and psychological wellbeing.

Our Vision

Our vision is to see avian environments, from private homes to managed facilities, designed and operated with the same level of intent, rigour, and accountability expected in modern zoological institutions. We strive to contribute to a future where bird welfare  is shaped by informed decision-making, ethical responsibility and respect for species-specific needs.

Our
Philosophy

At FeatherstoneSG, we believe that good avian care is not defined by trends, anecdotes, or anthropomorphism. It is defined by biology, behaviour, and environmental context. Every recommendation we make is grounded in observable outcomes, established welfare frameworks, and real-world operational constraints.

We take a systems-based approach to aviculture, recognising that welfare, enclosure design, husbandry protocols and human behaviour are inseparable. Sustainable solutions must work not only for the birds, but also for the people maintaining them; consistently, safely and long-term.

The Team

Specialist Partnership

FeatherstoneSG operates as a specialist partnership combining zoological aviculture expertise with real-world design, build, and operational delivery. Angelin Lim-Villalon leads welfare, behavioural, and enclosure strategy. Richard Villalon leads design implementation, build coordination, and operational systems. Together, we deliver solutions that are practical, buildable, and designed to perform long-term.

Angelin Lim-Villalon

Co-Founder | Avian & Enclosure Consultant

Angelin Lim-Villalon began her avicultural journey in 2005 and progressed into a professional career in zoological aviculture. She worked with Wildlife Reserves Singapore, culminating in her role as Assistant Curator of Birds by the end of 2019. Over this period, she developed extensive experience in avian husbandry, welfare management, conservation breeding, and exhibit operations across a wide range of bird species and taxa.

She was also responsible for the breeding and population management of parrots, passerines, pheasants, and corvid species, overseeing the coordination and long-term management of the living avian collection.

One of the most significant milestones in her career was her involvement in the husbandry development and specialised care of Spix’s Macaws (Cyanopsitta spixii) and Lear’s Macaws (Anodorhynchus leari) in 2017, overseeing day-to-day husbandry management at Jurong Bird Park.

Following this, she transitioned into private avicultural consultancy, providing both on-site and remote advisory support to zoological institutions and private bird collections overseas. In 2025, she co-founded FeatherstoneSG with Richard Villalon to formally extend professional zoological welfare standards into the private, residential, and international aviculture space.
